Children's Ombudsperson appointed in Stavropol Territory
Valery Gaevskiy, Governor of the Stavropol Territory, has introduced the post of the Ombudsperson in charge of children's rights. This was reported by the press service of the Governor. Svetlana Adamenko, earlier deputy minister of education of the Territory, was appointed to the post.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that since 2002 the Territory has Ombudsman on human rights; the post is occupied by pensioner Alexei Selyukov, former Public Prosecutor of the Stavropol Territory, Deserved Lawyer of the Russian Federation and Honourable Worker of Prosecutor's Office.
Now, as reported by the GTRK "Stavropolye", in Valery Gaevskiy's opinion, the crime preventive work in relation to juvenile residents of the Territory will be much stronger.
In 2009, according to territorial authorities, 77 crimes against minors were committed there, as a result of which 26 children were lost.
