Along of general drop of criminality, Karachai-Circassia saw more grave crimes in 2009
In 2009, Karachai-Circassia registered 4749 crimes, that is, by 11.4 percent less, than in 2008 (5361 registered crimes). This was stated by Senior Adviser of Justice Ruslan Hadjimusov, first deputy head of the ICPO at the Prosecutor's Office of Karachai-Circassia in his 2009 report to the Collegium of the Investigatory Department (ID) for Karachai-Circassia of the Investigatory Committee at the Prosecutor's Office (ICPO) of the Russian Federation on the measures aimed to increase the efficiency of investigatory bodies.
As compared with 2008, in 2009 Karachai-Circassia saw a growth of registered grave and especially grave crimes - 1396 against 1333 (growth by 4.7 percent). According to the report, in 2009 the republic also fixed more deliberate murders - by 22.7 percent (from 44 to 54), cases of heavy deliberate harm to human health, which entailed death by imprudence - by 85.7 percent (from 7 to 13), and rapes - by 54.5 percent (from 22 to 34).
At the same time, as the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by Vyacheslav Taranenko, senior assistant to the head of the above ID, in 2009, the republic also saw a higher opening rate of murders - from 80.3 percent in 2008 to 81 percent, and of rapes - by 2.1 percent (86.7 percent against 84.6). At the same time, the opening level of cases of heavy deliberate harm to human health, which entailed death by imprudence, made only 71.4 percent against 81.8 percent in 2008.
