PACE co-Rapporteurs to present their report on Azerbaijan in June
Andres Herkel (Estonia) and Joseph Grekh (Malta), co-Rapporteurs of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) for Azerbaijan, are now in this country. Today, they have met Eldar Azizov, chief executive of the city of Gyandzha.
Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the co-Rapporteurs of the PACE Monitoring Committee for Azerbaijan will come to Azerbaijan to prepare the next regular report on how the country copes with its obligations before the Council of Europe.
Mr Herkel told journalists in Gyandzha that the co-Rapporteurs' report will be ready in June. "The trip to Gyandzha was our initiative, since we want to see the situation not only in Baku, but also in country's regions," the "Trend" quotes him as saying.
Gyandzha is the second largest city of Azerbaijan, located 365 kilometres off Baku.
On February 10, the co-Rapporteurs will arrive in Baku to meet NGO activists, media and leaders of political parties.
On February 11, they will meet the authorities and give a press conference on the outcomes of their visit to Azerbaijan, the "Informer.Az" reports.
