Chechnya to hold action "Clean Water"
Chechen ecologists plan to hold a broad-scale operation in the districts of the republic scale operation "Clean Water", aimed to prevent pollution of water bodies. The responsibility for observance of the nature protection legislation will be assigned to heads of municipal formations.
"The condition of the territories of water-protection zones and river banks in the republic gives rise to serious concerns. Already now it is necessary to get ready for the forthcoming snow thawing not to admit pollution of water bodies in spring. To address these problems, we decided to hold the 'Clean Water' operation in the regions," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by the employee of the Committee of the Government of Chechnya on Ecology.
Within the action, they plan to clean river banks in Chechnya from garbage and domestic wastes.
"At snow thawing, water from littered sites gets into rivers, resulting in pollution. A serious problem is also that in many places they are now washing their cars near rivers. This practice should also be put an end to," the source has explained the must of urgent measures.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that this year the Chechen Republic will significantly increase fines for ecological violations.
