In Azerbaijan, editor-in-chief of "Themis-007" sentenced to corrective works
On February 3, the Yasamal District Court of Baku satisfied the claim of Ramil Usubov, head of the MIA of Azerbaijan, to Eyub Kerimov, editor-in-chief of the newspaper "Themis-007".
The judge has found Mr Kerimov guilty under Article 147.2 of the Criminal Code ("Slander of committing a grave crime") and sentenced him to 18 months of corrective works, which will be embodied in monthly deduction of 15 percent of his salary in favour of the state. This was explained to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Alirza Abilov, representative of Minister Usubov at the litigation.
Mr Kerimov himself said that he was categorically against the decision of the court. "The verdict is aimed to disrupt my professional work," he said and promised to lodge a complaint to the Baku Appeal Court.
