Office of Norwegian Council on refugees closed in Pankisi Gorge
The Norwegian Council on Refugees' Matters has closed its office in the Pankisi Gorge of Georgia, where refugees from Chechnya live. According to the refugees, the new head of the Council demanded to close the office.
"The argument was that after receiving passports many refugees left the Gorge, which is not true. We really got our passports, but we can't leave to any third countries for lack of money. The Norwegian Council was the only organization to pay attention to us," the GHN Agency quotes the refugees.
The office of the Norwegian Council on Refugees' Matters will continue its operation in Tbilisi. The "Georgia-Оnline" reports that the Council made no official comments on closing its office in Pankisi.
