Tens of thousands are without electricity and heat in Dagestan, authorities call not to panic
By the preliminary data, over 30,000 persons in Makhachkala and other districts of Dagestan are cut off from electricity and heat supplies. The authorities assure that they do everything possible and call not to panic.
According to Nariman Kazimagomadov, head of the Chief Department of the Russian Ministry for Emergencies (MfE) for the Republic of Dagestan, dwelling settlements in the Kazbek, Kizil-Yurt and Baba-Yurt Districts of Dagestan have no power and heat for several days already. Schools and kindergartens are closed.
A grave situation is in Makhachkala and adjacent settlements. In the capital of Dagestan, the micro-district "Reduktorny Posyolok" is for the third day without electricity. Some city districts have their utilities frozen.
When Vice-Premier Rizvan Gazimagomedov asked his communal bosses about the date of restart of supplies, they said by the evening on November 27, most of the problems would be eliminated. Meanwhile, as the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports, as of 11 p.m. today, houses along the Engelsa Street and in other districts of Makhachkala remained unheated.
As reported by the "Caucasian Knot", in Makhachkala, where the temperature is now below minus 12 degrees Centigrade, failures of the electric system resulted in de-energizing of many boilers and pumping stations.
