State prosecution not to appeal against the verdict on the first explosion of "Neva-Express" train

The state prosecution has refused to appeal against the verdict passed by the Novgorod Regional Court on the case of the first explosion of the "Neva-Express" train in 2007. In the course of investigation of this crime, the bribe case was returned to the first instance court.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot", on January 15, residents of Ingushetia Salambek Dzakhkiev and Maksharip Khidriev, who had been accused of blowing up the "Neva-Express" train in 2007, were acquitted under the "terrorism" article. However, the court found them guilty of illegal circulation of explosives.

After the court session, the defendants' advocates expressed their discontent with the verdict. On January 21, Natalia Teslenko, Dzakhkiev's advocate, sent a cassation complaint to the Novgorod Regional Court, which should subsequently transfer it together with the materials of the case for consideration to the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation. Murat Yunusov, advocate of Khidriev, the other figurant in the case, also said that he had lodged his complaint to the Supreme Court.

Meanwhile, as reported by the "Interfax", today the state prosecution has refused to lodge a cassation against the verdict of the Novgorod Regional Court.

Also today, the Novgorod Regional Court was to consider the cassation complaint on the case of bribing an inspector in the course of the inquiry of the "Neva-Express" train explosion. However, the session was postponed, as the "Echo Moskvy" Radio reports. "The case was returned to the first instance court for elimination of some formal defects, which prevent from considering the cassation," said the Court spokesman.
