In Chechnya, militia detains a suspect of kidnapping a girl

The local MIA reports that a young man suspected of kidnapping a minor back in 1999 has been detained.

"In the Leninskiy District of Grozny, law enforcers detained, on the basis of their available operative data, a 29-year-old local resident. He is suspected of taking part in November 1999 in kidnapping a minor girl, also a resident of Grozny. Now the detainee is in custody interrogated by inspectors," a Chechen militiaman told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent and added that the kidnapping of the 15-year-old girl had been accomplished by a group of criminals.

"On this fact in March 2000 a criminal case was opened under Article 126 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("kidnapping"). With account of the fact that the kidnapping was committed by a group of persons, through violence and with firearms, and a minor was kidnapped, should the guilt of the detainee be proved, he is under threat of up to ten years of imprisonment," said the source.
