Shkhagoshev: without people's involvement in public processes solution of problems in Northern Caucasus is impossible
According to Adalbi Shkhagoshev, Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation from Kabardino-Balkaria and one of the organizers of the Forum "Caucasus. Traditions and Modernization", held in Nalchik on November 30, 2009, without involvement of broad public addressing the problems, which exist in Northern Caucasus, including many frozen conflicts, looks impossible.
"Now, in spite of the fact that many people say that Northern Caucasus is in danger, I clearly understand that there is a bundle of problems, there are different groupings, but the forces opposing peace in Northern Caucasus now lack the power they had during the First and Second Chechen Wars and during the attack on Dagestan," Mr Shkhagoshev said in his interview to the "Caucasian Knot".
In Deputy's opinion, now some mediatory structure is needed between the law enforcement bodies and radical groupings. "The society should deal with it. The time has come, when the public should see that power structures and the authorities not just want to press, but want to understand who is who and solve problems," he said.
