"Memorial" to challenge the MCC decision in Strasbourg

The Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" plans to address the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) in the context of the today's decision of the Moscow City Court (MCC), which rejected the Centre's complaint against the claim lodged by President of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the MCC had ruled to reject cassation complaints lodged by Ramzan Kadyrov and Oleg Orlov, head of the HRC "Memorial" against decision of the Tver Moscow District, which partially satisfied Kadyrov's claim to the "Memorial" on defence of President's honour and dignity.

The HRC will ask the ECtHR to reconsider the passed decision, as the "Kasparov.Ru" reports.

Lawyer Anna Stavitskaya, who represents Oleg Orlov's interests, has also confirmed the intention of the "Memorial" to address the ECtHR.
