"Friends of Caucasian Adygs" are against "Circasiad" within Sochi Olympiad Programme
The public organization of Jordan "Friends of Caucasian Adygs" has voiced against the so-called "Circasiad-2012", having explained it by the fact that the initiators of the project represent it as an event planned within the programme of the Olympiad-2014 in Sochi.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Organizing Committee of Sochi Olympiad suggested including the idea of the World Circassian Games ("Circasiad-2012") as a component of one of the programmes of "Sochi-2014". This initiative was a response to the address of the authors of the project "Circasiad-2012" to Dmitri Chernyshenko, President of the Organizing Committee "Sochi-2014".
The authors of the "Circasiad" - Sufian Zhemukhov, chairman of the historical commission of the Coordination Board of Adyg NGOs of Kabardino-Balkaria, and Alexei Bekshokov, chairman of the Union of Abkhazian Volunteers of Kabardino-Balkaria, - named the offer of the Organizing Committee "Sochi-2014" to be "a positive step in realization of the project."
Within a series of presentations of the project, Sufian Zhemukhov and Alexei Bekshokov have already held six presentations of the "Circasiad" in Russian cities, including St Petersburg, Moscow and Sochi, and abroad - in the USA (State of New Jersey), in Turkey (Ankara) and in Jordan (Amman).
During the presentation in Jordan, held in the building of the Youth Khasse of the Kingdom, Rukhi Shkhaltukh, chairman of the "Friends of Caucasian Adygs", said that his organization is against any undertakings connected with the Sochi Olympiad, as the IA "Natpress" reports.
"We can't support what offends the memory of those who sacrificed their lives for the independence of our homeland, or those who try to justify the intention to hold Games on bones of these heroes," the "Caucasus Online" quotes Mr Shkhaltukh as saying.
