Dagestan: followers of Turkish scholar interrogated

Today, Ziyavdin Dapaev, a resident of Makhachkala and a follower of Turkish religious scholar Said Nursi, whose writings under the general title "Risale-i-Nur" (Letters of Light) were judicially banned in Russia in 2007, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that he was summoned for interrogation to the FSB Department for Dagestan.

According to his story, he was interrogated by Major of Justice Abdullah Abdullaev, Senior Inspector of the Investigatory Division of the FSB Department. Mr Dapaev refused to give details as he signed a non-disclosure obligation.

Murtuzali Barakaev, Dapaev's advocate, has noted that the actions are undertaken under the opened criminal case. At the same time, they both stated that official mass media of Dagestan launched a discrediting campaign against Ruslan Bulatov, another follower of the scholar, and the teaching of the Turk as such.
