Over 200,000 remain without gas after pipe explosion in Dagestan

Now, 5 districts of Dagestan with population of 215,000 are with no gas supplies after the terror act on the Mozdok-Kazimagomed gas main.

A bomb was triggered on January 12 at the 496th kilometre of the Mozdok-Kazimagomed gas main. The pipe was broken and the gas flow caught fire. According to eyewitnesses, the torch was up to 50 meters high and visible from the settlements located over 10 kilometres away.

After the explosion, gas supply into the pipe was stopped; according to the BBC Russian Service with reference to the Ministry for Emergencies, the situation is not critical. Some of the houses switched over to firewood and coal; and gas in bottles is supplied to affected dwelling settlements.
