MoJ of Dagestan obliges branch of "Edinaya Rossiya" to give data about its political board to "Chernovik"
The Dagestan Department of the Russian Ministry of Justice (MoJ) has called the local branch of the "Edinaya Rossiya" Party not to break the Russian law on mass media and the Constitution and to provide the journalists of the weekly named "Chernovik" (Blueprint) about the members of the political board of the regional branch. According to Magomed Magomedov, a journalist of the edition, this decision of the Dagestan MoJ is unprecedented.
"According to the current Russian legislation on appointment of heads of country's subjects, the political board of the local branch of the ruling party should nominate the would-be republic head to President of Russia. Since the members of the board support three candidates - incumbent President Mukhu Aliev, head of Makhachkala Said Amirov and Saigidgusein Magomedov, head of the Dagestan Department of the Federal Exchequer, - having the list of the board members, we could forecast the chances of the candidates," said Mr Magomedov.
Earlier, the leaders of the Dagestan Branch of "Edinaya Rossiya" refused to give the list of the board members to "Chernovik", and Ibragim Ibragimov, head of Executive Committee of the Branch said that the data was classified and not subject to disclosure.
"Finally, the Dagestan MoJ, after appeal of the 'Chernovik', made an official address to the party leadership stating that Ibragim Ibragimov was breaking the Constitution of the Russian Federation, the Federal Laws 'On Political Parties' and 'On Mass Media' and the Charter of the 'Edinaya Rossiya'," said Magomed Magomedov.
At the very end of last year the edition received an official answer running"According to Article 40 of the Law 'On Mass Media', a refusal to present the requested data is possible, only if the data contains any state, commercial or other secrets, specifically protected by the law. Since the requested information is outside these secret categories, the refusal to provide the list of members of the political board of the Dagestan Branch of the 'Edinaya Rossiya' Party is illegal. With the account of the aforesaid, the Branch will be asked to give the requested data."
So far, the press centre of the MoJ gives no comments, same as the local "Edinaya Rossiya" Branch.
