Shein: we plan to reach Strasbourg to cancel Astrakhan election outcomes
Should the Russian justice fail to cancel the outcomes of the October 11 elections in Astrakhan, Oleg Shein, Deputy of Russian State Duma and a candidate for the post of Mayor of Astrakhan at the elections, is going to address his complaint to the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR).
"We have no illusions, but, nevertheless, we've brought an action for cancellation of the election outcomes, since what happened was no election. We notified in our claim that we should address the ECtHR, if necessary," Oleg Shein told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
"On all the violations registered during the election campaign, we received just formal answers from law enforcement bodies of the Astrakhan Region," he has added.
Therefore, activists of the opposition sent letters-requests to the State Office of Public Prosecutor and the Investigatory Committee at the Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation in order, as Oleg Shein has formulated, "not to allow them freeze down the situation."
The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent failed to receive any comment on the situation with investigation of the violations admitted at elections in Astrakhan at the Mayoralty of Astrakhan and the Prosecutor's office of the Astrakhan Region on January 8.
