Yerevan: new CHPP unit is finished
The civil works at the Yerevan CHPP (combined heat and power plant) are practically over. Its new power unit will be commissioned in April 2010, Armen Movsisyan, minister for energy and natural resources, told journalists.
Earlier, Director of the CHPP Ovakim Ovannisyan said that the works were still underway with the modern steam-gas combined-cycle power unit, planned for commissioning on April 30, 2010.
The Yerevan CHPP was built in 1960-1970 to the rated power of 550 MW. Now, only one out of seven units is still in operation yielding 50 MW; therefore, the new steam-gas unit will be of great help.
