Azerbaijan starts exporting gas to Russia
Today, Azerbaijan has started its gas deliveries to the Russian Federation. Official opening of the gate took place in Shirvanovka village, Gusar District.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that at the first stage Azerbaijan will transport 500 million cubic metres of gas per year. In future, the figure will go up to 1 billion cubic meters, as the APA writes, quoting Mr Abbasov.
Mr Abdurakhmanov said that transportation of 1.5 million cubic meters per day will be ensured; according to his story, the Gazprom is ready to accept the exported gas.
The mid-term sale-and-purchase contract (with extension possibility) on Azerbaijani gas to Russia was signed between the SOCAR and Gazprom in Baku on October 14, 2009.
As reported by the "Rosbalt", Russian Gazprom will receive gas from the first development stage of the huge sea deposit named Shakh-Deniz with the stock of 1.3 trillion cubic meters and expects also to buy gas from the second stage of this deposit to be launched in 2016.
Europe also relies on this deposit as a possible source for the planned gas main Nabucco, called to decrease the Europe's dependence on Russian gas.
"Nabucco treaty signed in Turkey", "Nabucco treaty to be signed on July 13 in Turkey", "Azerbaijan doubles gas prices for the population".
