DFSB: militants' "cashbook" found on leader of underground in Dagestan
Among the things of Umalat Magomedov, leader of the armed underground of Dagestan, who was liquidated in Khasavyurt, a notebook was found with records on militants' revenues and expenditures.
Yesterday, on December 31, at about 10 p.m. in Khasavyurt, militiamen tried to stop a car for check of documents. "The driver and his three passengers opened fire on law enforcers, who started shooting in response, as a result, four persons were killed. One of them, according to power agents, is Umalat Magomedov, also known as "Albara"; two more casualties were identified as Shamil Magomedov ("Kuppa-Shamil"), deputy leader of the "Gubden" grouping, and Ibragim Ibiev, leader of "Kazbek" militants. There are no casualties or injured persons among power agents, as the RIA "Dagestan" reports.
The militants kept accounts of the revenues received from well-known Dagestan entrepreneurs through extortion, and of the funds received from abroad, in particular, from Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Azerbaijan. The "Interfax" was informed about it at the Department of the Russian FSB (Federal Security Bureau) for Dagestan. The notebook kept records of remunerations to militants and their families, on construction of dugouts, purchase of arms, ammunition, technical means, medicines, foodstuffs and cars.
The press service of the DFSB has noted that from the moment of his appointment to the position of the so-called "Commander of Dagestan Front" in April 2009, Umalat Magomedov disposed of the sums of dozens million roubles.
"Mukhu Aliev: 150 militants liquidated this year in Dagestan", "Bortnikov: 80 terror acts prevented in Northern Caucasus", "Hammarberg: Russia is not active enough in enforcing stability in Northern Caucasus".
