Azerbaijani human rights activists doubt of accusations put forward against journalist Fatullaev of drug storage

The charge of drug storage was presented to imprisoned Azerbaijani journalist Einullah Fatullaev with a number of serious violations of the law and will be appealed against in the court. This was stated by Isakhan Ashurov, journalist's advocate.

Let us remind you that in the evening on December 29 a search was conducted in the cell of Colony No. 12, where Einullah Fatullaev, editor-in-chief of the newspaper "Real Azerbaijan", is kept. According to the colony administration, in the sleeve of Fatullaev's jacket 0.22 grams of heroin were found.

"Einullah Fatullaev was placed into a cold cell (dungeon). It's unfair, to say nothing about the absurdity of drug storage accusations. All these actions will be appealed against in the judicial order," Isakhan Ashurov, the journalist's advocate, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to the lawyer, he was admitted to his client only one day after the charge presentation - that is, on December 30. He has added that Fatullaev rejected the charge and refused to sign the protocol compiled by the investigation. Moreover, Einullah named the person standing behind this provocation. However, so far, the lawyer has not disclosed the name of the "customer of the provocation" against the journalist.
