Azerbaijan: health of journalist Guseinov again worsened
The health condition of inmate Mushvig Guseinov, convicted journalist of the newspaper "Bizim Yol" (Our Way), who suffers from tuberculosis, has again aggravated.
Mushvig's brother - Dzhavidan Guseinov - told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that on December 20 the journalist called home and said that after a three-day break he again began coughing with blood. "Mushvig still has no appetite, and his temperature is often high. He feels very flaccid and worries that his two-month treatment gave no effect," said the brother.
A week ago, on December 14, the specialized establishment for TB prisoners, where Mushvig Guseinov is now kept, was visited by employees of the local Ombudsman's office. According to their story, Guseinov "did not complain of his custody and treatment conditions. He said that he felt better and his last x-ray picture showed progress in treatment."
In the meantime, on December 19, another imprisoned journalist, editor-in-chief of the newspaper "Azadlyg" Ganimat Zakhidov, sentenced on March 7 this year to four years of imprisonment, was transferred to the medical establishment of the Penitentiary Service. As reported by his wife Ayanda Mursalieva, Ganimat suffers from rheumatism and heart disease and requires teeth treatment. According to her story, within the next few days Zakhidov will pass a complex medical examination, on the results of which he will be administered the required treatment and terms of stay at prison hospital.
