Baranov: threats and discrediting of "Young Europe" continue in Rostov

The pressure on the regional branch of the all-Russian organization "Young Europe" in Rostov-on-Don gets stronger; now they try to add the "national issue" to persecution; and threats arrive on behalf of the Caucasian Diaspora. This was stated by the head of branch Konstantin Baranov.

"Last week the girl - coordinator of the group 'Iridescent Syndrome' - and I received calls, literally one after the other, from the city official - chairman of the committee on ethnic matters in the administration of Rostov-on-Don, who very actively asked about our activities. Our latest actions were quite harmless - we disseminated leaflets and held public polls - asked people to write on a big sheet of paper, in what they thought themselves different from other people. Not a single component was especially accented," Konstantin Baranov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Nevertheless, according to his version, separate media wrote that this action was held by the organization of gays and lesbians. The above administration official also quoted some text, running that the "Iridescent Syndrome" was allegedly starting a joint project with national Diasporas.

Some days after that call Baranov was called by a young man, who presented himself as a "representative of the Caucasian Diaspora."

According to Mr Baranov, the young man began expressing discontent with the activity of the organization and pronounce threats, also based on some text that he had allegedly found somewhere in the Internet.

Baranov could not find the text and expressed an assumption that the young man had first contacted the authors of this text directly, as the text was not in free access.
