KBR to introduce the post of Children's Ombudsman
By his decree of December 15, Arsen Kanokov, head of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) founded the post of Children's Ombudsman in his republic.
The new post is introduced with the aim of efficient defence of rights and interests of children and in execution of the Decree of President of the Russian Federation "On Children's Ombudsman at the President of the Russian Federation". This was reported by the press service of the President and Government of the republic.
"The Children's Ombudsman may inspect the work of executive bodies and officials of the KBR," said the press service. "Should the Ombudsman see any encroachment on the child's rights in decisions or actions (inaction) of power bodies or bureaucrats, he will send recommendations to them on possible and necessary measures to restore the broken rights and interests of the child."
Let us remind you that in 2007 Kabardino-Balkaria instituted the post of Ombudsman on human rights. It was taken by Boris Zumakulov, earlier the chairman of the Electoral Commission of the KBR.
In his recent interview to the "Caucasian Knot", Mr Zumakulov said that among most acute problems in the sphere of human rights was the issue of providing housing to children-orphans and the children who remained without parental care.
The acuteness of this problem was also marked by the head of the Public Human Rights Centre Valery Khatazhukov.
