In Azerbaijan, journalist Kerimov rejects accusations of MIA boss
Eyub Kerimov, editor-in-chief of the newspaper "Femida-007", categorically rejects the charges, presented against him by Ramil Usubov, head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Azerbaijan, who insists that the journalist had slandered him by accusing of committing especially grave crimes.
Mr Usubov lodged a private claim against Kerimov and demands to bring the journalist to criminal liability attraction of the journalist to the criminal liability under Article 147.2 of the Criminal Code (slander of committing a grave or especially grave crime), which assumes different punishments up to imprisonment for the term of up to 2 years. The claim is considered by the Yasamal District Court of the city of Baku; and its next session on this case will take place on December 7 at 4:00 p.m.
"My articles and interviews have absolutely no slander addressed to the MIA or personally the minister. I just criticized the ministry, maybe rather toughly. But every my point is supported by particular sources and facts," Mr Kerimov said to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
