In Azerbaijan, ex-policemen convicted for a series of crimes
Today, the Court on Grave Crimes of Azerbaijan finished the process on the case of a group of former policemen, accused of committing a series of armed assaults on currency exchange offices in 1998-2008.
The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports that the court has sentenced former operative agents of the Department of the MIA for Fighting Banditism Mekhdi Amiraliev and Iradzh Nasrullaev to 15 years of imprisonment (with serving the first five years in the Gobustan prison), Ismail Feiziev - to 12 years of imprisonment, Dzheikhun Garaev and Seiran Bagirov - to 10 years, and Rauf Rzaev - to 4 years of imprisonment.
They were found guilty under a lot of articles of the Criminal Code, including murders, robberies and banditism.
At interrogations, Iradzh Nasrullaev and Mekhdi Amiraliev have admitted that they used their experience of working for the police for committing crimes.
At the trial, the defendants have partially admitted their guilt.
