ICPO: Sadulayeva's murder has nothing to do with her professional work
Zarema Sadulayeva, head of the humanitarian organization "Let's Save the Generation", who was kidnapped and murdered together with her husband Alik Dzhabrailov in Grozny earlier this August, was an occasional victim of the culprits: she died because of the husband. This was stated on Tuesday by Victor Ledenyov, head of the Investigatory Department for Chechnya of the ICPO (Investigatory Committee at the Prosecutor's Office) of Russia.
The "Caucasian Knot" reported that the couple was kidnapped on August 10 from the office of the NGO "Let's Save the Generation" located in the capital of Chechnya. On the following day, they were found murdered in the Zavodskoy District of Grozny.
"Today, we can state for sure that Zarema and her husband were enticed away from the office without any violence or threats. There is a witness who was present there at the moment and evidenced about what happened there. We've studied Zarema's activities and concluded that the criminals came not for her; they needed Dzhabrailov," the "Gazeta.Ru" quotes Mr Ledenyov as saying.
According to Mr Ledenyov, Sadulayeva "perished only because she decided to not leave her husband alone in a dangerous situation and followed him," the "NEWSru.com" writes.
According to Ledenyov, the investigation considers several versions of the crime: their kidnapping and murder by members of IAFs (illegal armed formations) with the aim to destabilize the situation; the blood feud; or revenge for Alik's participation in IAFs.
The head of the Chechen ICPO said that they have no suspects in the case.
