Head of Magaramkent District of Dagestan killed in Makhachkala

Today, at about 6:00 a.m. in Makhachkala, in the Shamil Avenue, unidentified persons shelled the car with Abrek Gadzhiev, head of the Magaramkent District of Dagestan. Mr Gadzhiev later died from his wounds in hospital.

His driver, who was also wounded, is now out of danger.

The place of the incident is studied by the operative-investigatory group; the criminals are searched.

Let us note here that crimes against officials of Dagestan are frequent. Thus, on October 11, an attempt was committed on Amir Amirov, deputy director general of the Dagestan Open Joint-Stock Company "Southern Network Company. Then, eight persons were wounded, including a two-year-old child. Mr Amirov did not suffer.

On September 27, in the Novocheryomushkinskaya Street, in southwest of Moscow, Alimsoltan Alkhamatov, head of the administration of the Khasavyurt District, was killed; his driver was wounded.

On September 11, in Makhachkala, the capital of Dagestan, Maksud Maksudov, deputy of the Makhachkala public prosecutor for supervising legality in corrective establishments, was shot dead, and on September 10, in Khasavyurt, Magomed Sakhratulaev, former head of the Botlikh District of the republic, was murdered.

    Abdulmumin Gadjiev, Abubakar Rizvanov and Kemal Tambiev, who are waiting for consideration of their appeal complaints against verdicts, have been transferred from the Novocherkassk SIZO (pre-trial prison) to the Grozny one, Gadjiev's wife has reported, while one of Gadjiev's colleagues has added that his solo picket in Gadjiev's support sparked interest among passers-by in Makhachkala.
