Prosecutor's Office of Kalmykia checks spending funds raised for South Ossetia
The Office has revealed that almost 6 million roubles, raised for the victims of the war in South Ossetia, were spent not to the purpose.
According to prosecutors, actually, organizations of all ownership forms, individual entrepreneurs and citizens raised 2,933,590 roubles.
Besides, according to the letter, sent by deputy chair of Kalmyk government to the heads of executive bodies of the republic, employees of these bodies and their subordinated establishments donated their three-day's salaries to the special account intended to help the victims of the Georgian-South-Ossetian conflict, opened by the Ministry of Public Health and Social Development of Kalmykia.
In total, in the course of the campaign the account accumulated 14,540,627 roubles. "As established by the check, part of this money - 5,705,000 roubles, gathered from individuals and legal entities for the above aims, were actually spent by the government of republic on holding an ethic-rock festival in Elista, the "Interfax" quotes the statement of the Prosecutor's Office.
The outcomes of the check have been sent to the body of preliminary investigation for deciding on opening criminal prosecution. On the outcomes of the procedural check, the Investigatory Unit of the Republic's MIA initiated and now investigates a criminal case on crime attributes stipulated by part 1, Article 165, of the Russian Criminal Code, the "Rosbalt" writes.
