Akhmad Kadyrov's elder son was seriously wounded in fire attack at his car

Akhmad Hajji Kadyrov's elder son was seriously wounded as a result of fire assault in Chechnya's Gudermes district, the Caucasus Times correspondent reports citing the Chechen interior ministry.

According to the ministry's source the incident occurred in the evening of October 5. Zelimkhan Kadyrov and his three bodyguards in their car came under assault rifle fire from a car passing by in the Gudermes district.

All four passengers, including Zelimkhan, got wounds of different severity. According to some information, Kadyrov's son was delivered to a local hospital; other reports say Zelimkhan was taken outside the republic.

Information on the incident has not been disclosed so far. Neither Kadyrov's administration officials nor the Interior Ministry of Chechnya give any hints of what happened. The attackers disappeared from the site. The source in the Interior Ministry said large forces of law-enforcement agencies were in pursuit of the attackers.

Some locals believe the murder attempt ensued as a result of vendetta. Shortly before the beginning of the second war in Chechnya one of the two Kadyrov's sons killed a man.

The victim's relative vowed to revenge. Being mufti of Chechnya at that time, Akhmad Hajji Kadyrov tried to settle the matter by reconciliation, but he failed.
