Georgia: arrested son of the first president rejects medical help

The health condition of Tsotne, son of the first president of Georgia Zviad Gamsakhurdia, who is in pre-trial custody under the charge of a deliberate murder attempt, where he went on hunger strike, continues to aggravate.

"The condition of Tsotne Gamsakhurdia, who is on his 29th day of hunger strike, has considerably worsened, and he refuses to take doctor's help as a sign of protest," Ketevan Bekauri, Tsotne's advocate, said to journalists.

She said about her plans to apply her protest to Mamuka Gvaramiya, Chief Public Prosecutor of Tbilisi, against the behaviour of the inspectors in charge of Tsotne's case. In particular, she accuses them of failing to interrogate the victim - David Badzhalidze.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Tsotne, son of the first president of Georgia Zviad Gamsakhurdia, was detained by law enforcement bodies on October 27. He is accused of an attempt of deliberate murder of his neighbour and friend David Badzhalidze, and of illegal purchase, storage and bearing firearms.
