In Armenia, children's and teenagers' criminality went up by 4.9 percent
In the first 9 months of this year Armenia registered 383 crimes committed by minors. As compared with the same period of 2008, the count of such crimes went up by 4.9 percent. This was reported by Colonel Ovanes Tamamyan, head of the Chief Criminal Search Department of the Police of Armenia.
According to his story, teenagers aged 16-17 are mostly the culprits. 64 percent of all their crimes are thefts. Not a single murder was registered. "In most cases children were incited by adults," he said.
"A new phenomenon was participation of minors in faking money; 8 such crimes were registered this year," he has noted.
According to Mr Tamamyan, only 26 teenagers out of all the culprits were pupils.
"The situation is complex also with the crimes committed against minors. 155 such crimes were registered, two of them - deliberate murders, two - involuntary murder, three incitements to suicide, three cases of violence, and 25 sexually-motivated crimes," he has concluded.
