Gas line "White Stream" to be jointly designed by Georgia and Ukraine
As reported by Andrei Goncharuk, deputy head of the secretariat of the President of Ukraine, in designing the gas line "White Stream", Georgia will rely on the potential of the Ukrainian gas transportation system.
"The agreement was reached in the course of negotiations of President of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili with Ukrainian President Victor Yuschenko," Mr Goncharuk has explained. "Ukraine and Georgia have a chance to make the broadest possible use of their geographical positions and power transit potentials in the context of implementing the European energy policy."
He has emphasized that one of Ukraine's priorities is to implement projects aimed at diversification of deliveries of Caspian hydrocarbons, in particular, under the joint Georgia-EU project "White Stream", as the "Georgia Today" reports.
The Ukrainian official has explained that already today the Ukrainian gas transportation system has reserves, allowing ensuring reliable transit of energy carriers from the Caspian Sea region, as reported by the "Rosbalt".
