Rally of supporters of ex-President Gamsakhurdia's widow dispersed in Georgia

Today in Tbilisi, policemen have suppressed a protest action held by supporters of Manana Archvadze-Gamsakhurdia, the widow of ex-President of Georgia Zviad Gamsakhurdia.

Almost for an hour over 30 participants of the action spent at the building of the Georgian Ombudsman's office demanding release from preliminary custody of the son of the ex-President - Tsotne Gamsakhurdia, who was detained on October 27 on accusation of an attempt of deliberate murder of his neighbour. The Tbilisi City Court ruled to put Tsotne for two months into preliminary custody. The Appeal Court rejected the appeal on Gamsakhurdia's case and upheld the ruling of the first instance.

The "Interfax" Agency reports that the interference of the police into the course of the protest action against Gamsakhurdia's arrest took place after former journalists of the "Imedi" TV Company went out of the building of the Ombudsman's office, and the widow's supporters tried to attack them.

The "Georgia-Online" reports that the policemen were directly commanded by Georgiy Gegechkori, commander of the Tbilisi Patrol Service.
