In Georgia, high-ranking officials arrested for extortion
On November 4, employees of the department of constitutional safety of Georgia arrested high-ranking officials of the Ministry for Protection of Environment and Natural Resources of Georgia.
The "Gazeta.Ru" reports that Nikoloz Chimakadze, head of the inspectorate for protection of the environment, and Rukhaya, deputy head of the fast reaction service of this inspectorate.
According to the investigation, Chimakadze and Rukhaya kept their eyes shut to illegal export of timber and extorted money from entrepreneurs. In case their guilt is proved, they can be imprisoned for up to 11 years, as the "Georgia Online" reports.
