Police of Armenia trying to restore people's trust
The main directions in the work of the Police of Armenia are fighting crime, support of public order, protection of citizens' rights, and - the most important - recovery of the police's credibility among people. This was stated by Alik Sarkisyan, head of the Police of Armenia, at his meeting with students and teachers of the Yerevan State University.
According to Mr Sarkisyan, aiming to restore the trust of the population, during 9 months of this year, 55 policemen were brought to disciplinary responsibility, 633 more - to the disciplinary punishment in the form of reduction in grade.
He added that in total during nine months of this year more crimes were registered than for the same period of 2008: 7960 crimes against 5600.
