In Dagestan, "Chernovik" case not to go back to prosecutor's office
The Supreme Court of Dagestan has cancelled the decision of the Leninskiy Court of Makhachkala about return of the criminal case concerning the editor-in-chief and four journalists of the Dagestan weekly "Chernovik" (Blueprint) to the prosecutor's office because of violations when drawing up the indictment. This was reported by Biyakay Magomedov, lawyer of the edition.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the case was returned by the court to the prosecutor's office on October 12, since a number of violations were revealed in the indictment.
"Already for the second time, under the protest of the prosecutor's office, the Supreme Court cancels the decision of the Leninskiy District Court," the "Gazeta.Ru" quotes the source.
According to his version, the prosecutor's office wants to have the case considered by the Leninskiy Court, since the founder of the weekly - the LLC "Freedom of Speech" - is registered in this district. However, the journalists want their case to be considered by the Kirovskiy Court, where the edition is actually located, as the "Yuga.Ru" writes.
"We are going to appeal against the decision of the Supreme Court, as we believe that the decision of the Leninskiy Court to return the case to the prosecutor's office for correction was fair," the lawyer has added.
