The MIA of Chechnya: over 100 militants liquidated in half-year
From April till end of October, almost 150 persons were liquidated in Northern Caucasus, who were treated by power agents as militants. The figure was made public by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Chechnya at the sitting on November 2 in Grozny with participation of President Ramzan Kadyrov and bosses of power agencies.
"Since April 20, 144 members of illegal armed formations have been liquidated; of them, 118 - in the territory of the Chechen Republic," said Mr Alkhanov, head of the MIA of Chechnya, reporting the results of special operations, held in the republic and neighbouring regions.
Representatives of local NGOs believe, in their turn, that not all the persons killed during this period in Chechnya, Ingushetia, Dagestan and Northern Ossetia were actual participants of the armed underground. In the opinion of human rights activists, cases are still frequent in the region, when power agents give out the persons having nothing in common with armed fight for participants of armed resistance.
