Cars burnt down in plenty in Volgograd Region
In October, over 20 cars burnt down in Volgograd. Militiamen believe that half of the cases were deliberate arsons. In this way the companies, which claim debts from their borrowers, punish them, the militia think.
According to employees of the GUVD (Chief Interior Department) of the Volgograd Region, "putting cars on fire is now a method of criminal influence of the so-called 'collection' companies, which are knocking out debts from borrowers of credit cooperative societies and banks, who are not able to payback their credits."
A resident of the city of Volzhskiy, who preferred to remain anonymous, has named to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent another possible reason of car arsons: "In this simple way car owners try to get insurance bonuses for their old cars."
In total, for the past nine months militiamen of the Volgograd Region registered 170 car arsons; also five buses were burnt down.
