Authorities of Stavropol plan to make citizens' health the main topic of city policy

The city of Stavropol has entered the fifth phase of the project of the World Health Organization (WHO) "Healthy Cities", which will last till 2013. The territorial capital was the only city of Russia to receive the corresponding accreditation in the European WHO network, which gives the right to continue participation in the project. This was announced by the press service of the city administration.

By entering the fifth phase of the WHO project, the city authorities have undertaken a number of serious obligations directed at preservation, strengthening of physical potential and improvement of the general level of wellbeing of Stavropol residents. In the new phase of the project health becomes the main topic of city policy and the main precondition for development. Special attention will be given to the issues of forming the health-friendly environment and of city planning, as reported by the GTRK "Stavropolye".

In September, a roundtable was held in Stavropol, which discussed the problems of building health centres in the country, including the Stavropol Territory, as reported by the newspaper "Stavropolskaya Pravda".
