Novorossisk court denies MUE director's claim against NCHR

The result of today's session on the claim lodged by Sergey Novikov, director of the Municipal Unitary Enterprise "Information-Analytical Centre" (MUE "IAC"), against the Novorossisk Committee on Human Rights (NCHR) on defence of his honour, dignity and business reputation was refusal of the court to consider the case because of clarification of circumstances and Mr Novikov's confession about his deal with the local prosecutor's office. This was reported to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Vadim Karastelyov, an expert of the NCHR.

Today, the Oktiabrskiy Court of Novorossisk has considered Sergey Novikov's claim against the NCHR. The claimant was dissatisfied with the fact that the NCHR had put him into the "cadre cadastre", which registers and presents to the public violations of citizens' rights, admitted by officials, and with the fact that in the cadastre Novikov was treated as an official.

"Today, during the session, Novikov said that in summer he allegedly had a judicial deal, at which Denis Kabanov, deputy public prosecutor of Novorossisk offered him to admit a violation of the federal legislation in exchange of the promise not to make his confession public," said Mr Karastelyov. However, later Kabanov acquainted Karastelyov with Novikov's confession.

According to the human rights activist, Judge Anna Boikov made a decision to deny Sergey Novikov's claim.
