Krasnodar court rejects cassation of victims in Sochi OMON case

The Krasnodar Territorial Court has upheld the decision of the Lazarevskoe District Court of Sochi on compensation to the citizens who had suffered from the actions of Sochi OMON (Special-Purpose Militia) fighters in the territory of the "Druzhba" Children's Camp.

The "Caucasian Knot" already reported that eleven victims in the criminal case on the crimes committed by fighters of the Sochi OMON decided to enjoy their right to compensation of moral damage. The total sum of their claims made 650,000 roubles.

Today, the Krasnodar Territorial Court has obliged the Russian Ministry of Finance to pay out 270,000 roubles as compensation of moral harm to 10 citizens-victims of the OMON attack - les than a half of what the claimants had demanded, the "Yuga.Ru" writes.

The interests of the victims were presented, with the support of the Fund "Public Verdict", by Yuri Sidorov, advocate of the Inter-Regional Committee Against Torture. The Committee later said that "the Court refused to satisfy the complaint lodged by Yuri Sidorov in the interests of the victims."

The Court has also rejected the complaint of the Ministry of Finance, which believed that the compensation sum was too high. The decision on compensation has entered its legal force, as reported by the "Rosbalt".
