Court of Dagestan finds officer Agaev non-guilty of forming armed grouping
Today, the Supreme Court of Dagestan has acquitted Mukhtar Agaev, an officer of the Dagestan Department of the Russian Federal Service for Drug Trafficking Control (RFSDTC), accused of organising an illegal armed formation (IAF) and attempt on Deputy of the National Assembly of Dagestan Shamol Isaev, on all indictment points. Agaev was set free in the courtroom and provided with the right for rehabilitation.
The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports that over one hundred Agaev's supporters and residents of his native Sogratl village welcomed the decision of the court with applause. The prosecution party gives no comments on its plan to appeal against the verdict.
The court has failed to find in the materials presented by the prosecution any proofs of Agaev's involved in setting up an IAF in his Sogratl village, and any confirmation of his intention to organize an attempt on Shamil Isaev, Deputy of the National Assembly of Dagestan.
