Pakhomov: Sochi to conquer European level of service

The city-resort Sochi has long-term experience of receiving guests, but by Olympic Games-2014 it will have to reach the European level of rendering of services, Anatoly Pakhomov, Sochi Mayor, said in the context of the 8th International Investment Forum "Sochi-2009".

According to his story, as of today, two main strategic development programmes of the city have been launched: "Sochi - a hospitable city" and "Heritage of Games". The Mayor said that the former programme should ensure preparation of Sochi for the Olympiad-2014 at the proper level, and the latter - the life of the city in the long-term prospect, after the Games.

"Sochi has more than a centenary experience of receiving guests, but we'd like to hit the European level," the Mayor has explained. "Under the programme, we have formulated 79 parameters of hospitality, split into 14 groups. Until now, only about 30 percent of parameters were followed and improved."

Among the main directions in the focus of special attention in the course of implementing the programme, the Mayor named creation of the barrier-free environments for impaired people; generation in the city of professional, English-speaking, benevolent personnel in the sphere of services; and repair and reconstruction of roads. Besides, according to Mr Pakhomov, "Sochi residents should be tolerant, share Olympic values, and conduct ecology-harmless way of life."
