In Georgia, criminal case against journalist Besik Pipiya stopped

The criminal case against journalist Besik Pipiya, head of the representative office of the RIA "Novosti" in Tbilisi, has been stopped because of absence of crime attributes. This was reported by Mr Pipiya himself and his advocate Levan Buadze.

After lifting all the charges, Besik Pipiya thanked everyone who had supported him, the "Echo Moskvy" Radio said.

"Today, Nugzar Makhatadze, Public Prosecutor of the city of Rustavi, invited me and served the statement about termination of criminal prosecution because of absence of crime attributes. Justice has triumphed. I am grateful to everyone who supported me," the "Gazeta.Ru" quotes Mr Pipiya as saying.

Earlier, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia had treated Pipiya's case as politically motivated.
