Saakashvili dissatisfied with EU's report of reasons of military conflict in South Ossetia

President of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili has expressed his resolute discontent, while making comments on the conclusion of the unpublished report of the European Union's independent commission set up for investigating the reasons of the armed conflict in August 2008 in South Ossetia that Georgia was the initiator of the war.

The information from the report, which is planned to be presented before the end of September, was made public by the "Spiegel" magazine. According to the document quoted by the edition, the war in South Ossetia was unleashed by Georgia, but Moscow had provoked the conflict by having placed plenty of its troops in the region, the "Gazeta.Ru" writes.

"No investigation can tell that I was wrong. Some idiots say that we had started the war, without taking into account the threats of Russian invasion," Mr Saakashvili said to the Spanish newspaper "El Pais". The President is sure that Russia had provoked the start of the war; and then, having broken the international law by occupying Georgian territories.

The international commission under the EU's aegis for investigating the circumstances of the August conflict in the Caucasus officially started its work in early December 2008 and spent 9 months and 1.6 million euros on its investigation, the "Gazeta.Ru" reports.
