Ingush President convokes emergency meeting of power bosses after Aushev's failed kidnapping

After the former leader of the opposition of Ingushetia Maksharip Aushev made a report about the failed attempt of his kidnapping to President of Ingushetia Yunus-Bek Evkurov, the latter convoked an emergency meeting of his power top managers and initiated investigatory actions on the fact of the incident. Mr Aushev himself said about it to the "Caucasian Knot".

Mr Aushev, a member of the Expert's Council of the office of Russian Ombudsman, said to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that these measures were taken by Mr Evkurov even in spite of the fact that Aushev did not submit any application to law enforcement bodies.

"After the unidentified power agents left the vicinity of the RPS post, where they had tried to kidnap me, my friends accompanied me in three cars up to the office. From there I made the first call to President Evkurov. He was in Moscow; I explained him the situation. He said that he'd call me back and he did it; he asked me to take care and said that he would come back and clear out everything," said Mr Aushev.

"And in the morning (on September 16, - comment of the "Caucasian Knot"), at 8 a.m., he invited all his power agents; I understood that the President was tough in his reaction and ordered to undertake investigatory actions," he continued.

Maksharip Aushev also told about certain details about his meeting with the new head of the political division for fighting extremism of the FSB for Ingushetia in the building of the government in Magas, after which the attempt of his kidnapping was committed.

"We talked about the situation before the forthcoming elections," said Mr Aushev. "I explained that we, the opposition, are not going to boycott the elections, although, most likely, they will be falsified; and already today we can forecast the number of votes won by every party. When the lists were compiled, some people benefited from the President's absence, when he was on treatment. As a result, the same scheme was realized as under Zyazikov, when relatives "of necessary people" covered all the lists. I explained it to him and told about violations; that there are serious injustices and law violations. I said that it would be better to spend the election money to help the needy people."
