Despite President's order, detainee's mother is not let to see her son

Khadishat Chibieva, mother of Maskhud Chibiev, who was detained in Ingushetia and suspected by local MIA of involvement in the explosion at the GOVD building in Nazran on August 17, complains that local officials have failed to fulfil the order of President of Ingushetia, who instructed them to organize her meeting with Maskhud.

On September 4, Maskhud was kidnapped by power agents in masks, who said that they would bring him to the Nazran GOVD; however, later his relatives could not find him there; and for a long time they knew nothing about his whereabouts.

At the roundtable held on September 8 by NGOs of Ingushetia and Northern Ossetia with participation of Thomas Hammarberg, Commissioner on Human Rights of the Council of Europe, President of Ingushetia Yunus-Bek Evkurov promised Khadishat Chibieva to organize her meeting with the son. However, according to the woman, local bureaucrats refuse to fulfil the order.

"The say that my son is in the Stavropol Territory, as though this circumstance makes our meeting impossible," she said.

Khadishat Chibieva says that her son is tortured with the aim to force him to confess of involvement in the explosion at the GOVD in Nazran. "At the last meeting with the advocate on September 9 my son told him that he was tortured with electricity and forced to give the confession. They want to fabricate a case against him," said the distressed mother.
