CPJ supports additional inquiry into Politkovskaya's case

The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) welcomes the decision to return the case of three suspects of murdering Anna Politkovskaya, an observer of the "Novaya Gazeta", to additional investigation before its repeated delivery to the court. This is said in the statement of Nina Ognianova, coordinator of the programme for Europe and Middle Asia, which has arrived to the "Caucasian Knot".

"We also support the decision of the court to combine this case with the case opened against the gunman and possible customers of this crime. The CPJ calls Russian authorities to carefully study all the versions of the murder, interrogate all the witnesses, find all the suspects and examine all the collected evidences. The justice will triumph in this case, only when all the persons involved in the murder find themselves in the prisoner's dock," runs the statement.
