Children-refugees return to Ingushetia after rest in Spain
On September 1, eight children-refugees from Ingushetia came back from Spain, where they stayed for about one month. Many of them were in children camps, and some of them lived in families. The trip became possible due to the Foundation of Deported Nations. According to Alikhan Akhilgov, President of the Foundation, the organization has been helping children for about 15 years.
Mr Akhilgov said that the Foundation of Deported Nations helps the children-victims of the war in Chechnya and the Ossetian-Ingush conflict in the Prigorodny District. This summer, many children with the help of the foundation had their rest in Russian children's camps. Those who had lost one or both parents during the war have chances to go abroad. "It doesn't matter for us whether the child's parent was a militant or militiaman. It does matter that the unprotected child waits for our help," he said.
The children left for Spain about a month ago. The foundation had financial problems with delivering them to Moscow. The Committee for Helping Refugees "Civil Assistance" helped in that; while in the capital all the expenses were born by the Spanish partner of the Foundation of Deported Nations - the NGO named the "Solidarity Foundation with Children" of the city of Madrid.
Alikhan Akhilgov said that his organization has been holding actions for fifteen years already. In Russia, leaders of many regions help the foundation.
