President of Dagestan orders power agents to find kidnappers

In Dagestan, in the evening on August 31, at the sitting dedicated to the problem of kidnappings, President of Dagestan Mukhu Aliev gave an order to find the criminals who killed kidnapped young men in the end of August. The bosses of power agencies stated non-participation of their employees in this crime.

The sitting was attended by the whole power branch of the republic, namely the heads of the Prosecutor's Office, FSB and MIA; local media people were also admitted.

The spokesman of the Prosecutor's Office said that a criminal case had been initiated on the fact of disappearance and murder of the young men.

Making his comments on the incident with kidnapping and murder, and also on the outcomes of the sitting, Hadjimurad Kamalov, director of the publishing house of the LLC "Freedom of Speech", has noted that in the last three months the power agents, who arrived to the republic from other regions of Russia, have become much more active in Dagestan.

They are young; they do not understand the specificity of the region and believe that the problem of terrorism and criminality can be solved hurriedly, through liquidation of those suspected of sympathy to militants. Their activity is based on the desire of fast career growth and other benefits of purely mercantile character, Mr Kamalov has noted.

In his turn, Isalmagomed Nabiev, chairman of the independent trade union of entrepreneurs of Dagestan, believes that local and visiting power agents work in one team. "Local guys just point to this or that person, and the 'visitors' just liquidate him or her. The final result is the same - destabilization of the situation in Dagestan, growth of tension and feeling of fear in the society. In fact, nobody is safeguarded against violence any longer," he has stated.
